The Legal System
The American legal system is one that fights for fairness and equality, but even then it can still be extremely difficult to navigate for the average person. This is why you need capable legal representation every time you find yourself in the legal system or needing legal assistance. For instance, before a sentencing really begins the judge will confer with the defendant to be sure that they’re satisfied with the job their legal council has done, if they aren’t it could mean starting the trial over.
The 1963 the US Supreme Court case Gideon v. Wainwright held that the Sixth Amendment’s right to counsel provision requires the government to provide legal counsel to those that can’t afford their own defense in criminal cases. This was a massive step towards a fairer system of courts in the country, which is fantastic. We may forget it sometimes but it’s important to remember that in American you are innocent until found guilty by a jury of your own peers.
Traffic laws were designed not to be an annoyance to the driver, but to protect the driver from themselves as well as others on the road. Most people do all they can to drive safely, while a select few make horrible choices like driving drunk or not following speed limits. Nobody wants to get pulled over, and it’s honestly easy to avoid if you follow some simple rules. Make sure all lights and indicators on your car work, ensure your car is registered and up to date on that, and most importantly just follow all of the traffic laws.
At Mast Law Firm, our traffic ticket law firm and attorneys can help protect you and in many instances, minimize any points that may be added to your Driving Record and Insurance Record. In North Carolina, your Driver’s License record typically allows you to accumulate up to twelve (12) points in a three (3) year period before a revocation, but a different set of points are associated with Insurance regulations which is associated with certain percentages in increases in your insurance. Your insurance company can inform you how much your insurance rates may increase.
Family law is often related to quite unpleasant proceedings like trying to split up possessions from a deceased relative to divorce proceedings. Most people are aware than up to half of all American marriages end in divorce, so family law is a very common practice. Child custody cases can be very brutal, so you want someone with good knowledge of the law backing you up.
All of these things can be all but impossible to figure out on your own, you’re often just better off calling in the pros for help. A professional lawyer will keep you from being the one that gets screwed over. Family law can even deal with adoption, which is an insanely long and complex process and can be so hard to navigate yourself.
